About W.C. LeeWC Lee is a self-taught artist who started anew in 2006 after a long hiatus from art for approximately 24 years. He did mainly pencil and pen & ink during his teen years, rarely venturing into the world of colors due to the fact that he is slightly color-blind. Now since returning to the world of fine art, he has been pushing his limitations trying to overcome his slight color-blindness by using oil paint, acrylic and soft pastel. His interest in the fine arts resurrected after stumbing upon WetCanvas.com and ConceptArt.org one day while surfing the Internet. Since that day, he has been an active member in both sites nearly posting a piece of artwork daily, anywhere from a simple rough sketch to a fully finished painting. In the beginning, they were not pretty but still he pushes along to increase his skills and knowledge. Even today, he admits that there are still a great number of pieces aren't pretty but to him, each one is a learning experience and is regarded as a stepping stone to the final destination. Asking about his color-blindness and how he deals with it, he responded that he is mainly affected by red and green. Knowing exactly where those colors are on the palette is important, oils and acrylics aren't too difficult to keep track of but soft pastels can be problematic at times if each piece of pastels aren't returned back to their proper places. And when in doubt, he would ask someone what color a particular stick is if it looks out of place. He also explains that for him to produce a successful piece, he relies more on his draftmanship skills and the light and dark contrast rather than his use of colors. Though he paints a variety of subjects, landscapes was, and still is, the most problematic, however, by isolating and keeping the reds and greens apart, he is making progress.
